Halloween

Halloween was good.

On Friday we went to the wards trunk-or-treat. We got all decked up and found that we were some of the few (adults) that were dressed up. I know... we are so cool.
This year Jared was Frankenstein and I was a Mad Scientist. We spent about 6 dollars on our costumes. Nice because it would seem Halloween candy is expensive.

This is how we looked.

My Hair only took about 40 mins to do...
Step one. Volumizing shampoo
Step two . Gel wet hair
Step three. Blow dry hair upside down
Step four. Triple barrel curling iron
Step five. hair spray
Step six. Tease massively
Step seven. place cup on head and place hair over
Step eight. spray with white and black hair stuff.

this was my hair after i took it down. YIKES

I think there's potential there...

The trunk or treat had a great chili dinner and was fun even when it was raining as the kids went from trunk to trunk to get candy.

Then on Halloween day we got Charlie all dressed up with his safety patrol/sheriff outfit :)

We didn't have as many kids come by as last year, but it was still good and after the big rush we headed over to some friends to hang out. Their house was amazing! I hope that I can decorate my house like theirs one day... eventually.

Oct 24th

I thought it was going to be a bummer day.

Jared and I were assigned to clean the church with another family, BUT Jared had to do interviews for med students going to Honduras. (An amazingly timed excuse if I do say so) So I went and helped clean the church house and came home... to find... that Jared was not home. Ok, it was an hour before noon and he said it would be 'about noon'. (i'm thinking... give or take) I was hoping take a few minutes off but oh well.
I was bummed because we were planning on going to pick pumpkins and I was convinced that he was going to be so late that we would not be able to go on the last Saturday before Halloween.
So while I waited I cleaned. It is what I do when I am putting off something or trying to burn time. (That or Blog... which I'm doing now... putting of studying. opps!)

He gets home to my surprise at 1:30p. Really and seriously I was thinking he would not get home til 4.

Off to Hubers for Pumpkins. I felt like a kid in a candy store. There were so many pumpkins! How to choose just one!? I did the best begging I could and convinced Jared I needed 2 pumpkins. ONE HUGE pumpkin and one smaller GREEN pumpkin! Jared also got a huge pumpkin, but not as heavy as mine :)
Poor Jared found and picked his right when we got off the tractor... and proceeded to carry it around (for miles I'm sure) as I could not decide which pumpkin to get. (He says that I made it fun, I say I made it a workout)
It was fun for me!

The next day Jared couldn't wait to carve the pumpkins.
Charlie was excited too! He enjoyed eating the pumpkin guts. gross. We opened his and what do you know... rotten inside. EWWWWW!

'Excuse me... do you except returns???'

(Susie.... how did you ever return that Christmas Tree???????)

We open mine and it was perfect. :) SO I gave up my HUGE pumpkin for Jared to carve and decided to gut my green pumpkin to see what was inside. (by the way we got the green one for free! Turns out people like ORANGE pumpkins... not green ones.)
Inside it was totally immature.
I don't know how to describe it... normal orange pumpkins are stringy with lots of space... the green one had no space filled with a spongy squash stuff. (but lots of immature seeds... good to eat, they are a little more acidic that normal)
Having a green pumpkin I carved Frankenstein... the nice easy one. And Jared carved a skeleton that has a crutch; so original.

It was a good fun weekend, and I got some cleaning done! Woo hoo! I love going to the pumpkin patch... it will happen again next year.

Did I mention the beautiful drive there... I do like fall.

My Hero Hubs

This last weekend Jared was on call... Friday, and friday night, Saturday, and Saturday night, and Sunday and Sunday night.

A potential disaster for getting sleep, but by doing this he is able to have all other weekends off, so for him it is worth it.

He was lucky Friday night and had NO, ZERO, ZIP pages ALL NIGHT LONG. Seriously, unheard of.
Saturday however he was not so lucky, but not horribly abused. He had to go in at midnight and came back home at 2. I personally don't remember him coming home, although he says I carried a nice conversation with him. I dont know.

Then, I woke up in pain. I thought my head was going to implode. I woke Jared up because I was hysterical. I have had a lot of headaches in my life and some really bad ones, but this one set a new bar. And what does my sweet Jared do? Checks my eyes to make sure they are reactive, gets excedrin and a dr. pepper, and a water. Gives them to me. Makes sure I take them. Then gets me a cold wash cloth and puts it on my head. Which then makes me cold. So Jared lays next to me until I'm warm. By this point I was not sobbing histarically, but the meds had not started working yet and I was nauseus. Jared then got out some zofran, made sure I took it and drank plenty of water. Then laid by me to get me warm again and told me stories to take my mind off of the pain. We both finally went back to sleep and amazingly I awoke to only a small headache in the morning.

I know that it may be just the silliest simplest thing, but I sure do appreciate Jared so willingly and ready to take care of me even with little sleep that night.
I love me some Jared. My Hero Hubs.

AND... with my headache gone I was able to go to church and give my talk. Jared and I both gave talks on testimony and we felt it went well. Too bad Jared was so tired that he accidently fell asleep in primary. Good thing that is what Sunday naps are for... just for after church.

Not much going on

Jared and I hung out this last week and saw a movie. We initially went to go see The Invention of Lying. And in the first 2 mins we walked out. Wouldn't suggest that one AT ALL. So with our tickets we went to a movie James recommended; Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs.

Jared and I could not stop laughing in this one. I especially liked his shoes :) It was a fun movie and we felt like we were the only ones laughing. Our crowd was mostly under 10 and lot of the jokes were understood by adults. It was a Great family movie.

After the movie, charlie was SUPER EXCITED and SUPER HYPER. So this is how he burned off the energy...

While I was putting this blog together... I found some pictures from a year ago that I never saw because they were taken on Jareds camera...

This was our water fight... Jared hardly looks wet

I'm pretty sure I lost... And the house... there was water EVERYWHERE.

And this was taken Last Halloween with Esau and Judith who came to visit from Honduras. Jared and I were pirates, but Jared is missing his hair.

I don't think I have ever had 13 comments on one post, and I thank you all for your love, support and prayers.

I suppose that I should update "ya'll" (so kentucky) on how Jared is and what is going.

Jared's ablasion yesterday went well. We got there at 11:30 and all situated and in a room at noon. Then we waited 3 hours in the pre-op because some one else's surgery went over. Then it was time. He went in the room and I went to get some lunch.
A super friend, Mary, came and sat with me in the hospital and kept me distracted. I was nervous, but not horribly, just normally.
Then, finally, I got the first page, but everyone had gone home... so I caught a nurse and asked about Jared. He was out of surgery and in recovery. They let us back and I got to see a tired, hungry sore Jared. (Did I mention Jared was up all night on call) Poor thing.

Basically, The doctor could not stimulate the problem for long enough to map it out and burn it.
The next step will be to go to the dr. next week and get another EKG monitor and really figure out what is going on, and possibly meds? We are not sure.
It was kind of a disappointment to hear he could not fix the problem right then but we will just keep trying to get it figured out and fixed.

Jared was allowed to go home last night, and he is doing well, just sore.

Again, a big thanks to everyone for your prayers and support. And also to Mary for hanging out with me all afternoon and Hannah for the mystery pizza delivery today. You are all awesome.

His Heart

I love my Jared.

And I'm pretty sure he loves me.

And although a heart represents love... I am not going to talk about the heart as a symbol. This time it is about a heart. The real beating thing that each of us have in our chests. The huge, strong muscle that amazingly takes deoxygenated blood from the veins & pumps it to the lungs, pumps it back to the heart and then it pumps that oxygenated blood to your whole body.
A simply amazing, life sustaining organ.

But sometimes something will go wrong with the heart. This is the case for this years 'September' trial.

I will give the short story.

Jared (mr. prone to injuries/health related issues) at the task of rehabilitating from brain surgery last year, had the both of us join a gym. SUPER. With nothing else to do we were in the best shape of our lives... seriously! AWESOME!

Well at the beginning of the month of Sept. this year, Jared started telling me about some shortness of breath and racing heart along with occasional chest pain he had after working out...
Having learned from procrastinating going to the dr. last year he scheduled an appointment, got a portable EKG (heart beat recorder) and was told to record the event when it happened.
The 'event' was recorded and a stress test and EKG followed.

The 'event' was Ventricular Tachycardia.
What is that you may ask. (if you want a fancy answer go to wiki but here i go...) it is a potentially fatal heart arrhythmia. Basically the bottom part of the heart does not pump correctly... SO blood with oxygen doesn't get where it needs to go.
No oxygen = bad.

Another EKG and then a schedule for surgery. Oct. 2nd.
This surgery is called an ablation. The surgeon will insert a catheter and weave it up into the heart, stimulate the arrhythmia and burn the electrical system that is causing the weird heart beats.

50% of the time people have to stay overnight.
1 to 2% die during the procedure.
But without treatment there would be way worse risks.

I just pray that everything will be okay. That Jared is strong enough to undergo this trial. That the surgeon will be guided and can fix it. That after surgery Jared's heart will be strong and beat normally again.

Fall Is Here

It is fall. :) Officially and now the weather is showing it. Today theres a cool breeze at 67 degrees! Wonderful.
I can't wait for the leaves to change, but I'm also dreading winter.
I got out all the fall decorations we have... like 2; and I got out all the Halloween decorations this morning, but I will wait to put those up until oct. I will put up pictures :)

Fun story with our Halloween decorations we had none last year and bought this years on clearance AFTER Halloween. Smartest idea ever. If you want the good stuff you have to go right after Halloween but it is only 25 to 50% off. If you go about 5 days to a week after Halloween then it is 50 to 75% off but most the good stuff is gone.
We are such scavengers. LOL. This is also what we did for Christmas :)

I'm excited for fall, but I also must be the first one sick this season. Seriously 5 days in?? I hope that I have better things to look forward too when the flu season really hits.
