Finally Something Interesting

Currently this week I'm undergoing some 'intense' training for the YMCA job I got recently. This is what I did in a workshop yesterday.

It was super easy. You get cute scrapbooking paper, modge pogde glue, a bland clipboard and sissors.

You cut the paper approximately to size and put a layer of modge pogde on the clipboard and stick the paper to it. Then put a layer of modge pogde on top of the paper and let it dry. Repeat on back. And you Done! Super easy and cute.

To Everyone with a Furry Friend

At the urging of my family I decided fork out $13 to get something for the dog.

Little did I know this would change my life FOREVER.

The dog, at every chance, will jump up on the bed. This is evident by the constantly furry duvet cover. And I'm sick of it. Sick of waking up or getting in bed and having to spitter and spatter those long, course dog hairs out of my mouth. Gah.

Begin the revolution:
The Furminator.

It is a de-shedding tool. Yes, it qualifies as a 'TOOL'.
It's amazing!!!

The thing is no brush. Yes we tried the wire brush and it was ok. Then the horse brush thing. It was better. But The Furminator beats it all.

Here is Jared and Charlie. (Please excuse the edger in the background)

And this is just the start.

My life is better ;)

Here is the link for the main site, if you want to look at other videos where the dogs actually like to be brushed.

In The Elevator

Today I volunteered to help with a SP clinic. This is a test for medical students to get a feel for the step 2 boards. Basically there are actors (SP's or Standard Patients)that have a complaint and are going to you (as their doctor) to figure out what it is.
Of course I am no doctor, in fact only a nursing STUDENT... as in I don't know anything. It was really fun actually. I was nervous at first, but it turned out fine. And as it would be, I know an emergency when I see one. :) I can tell people to go to the emergency room if nothing else.

So ANYWAYS this is what I went to this morning. My story begins after I drove downtown on my way to the SP clinic.

I parked in the resident parking (I have Jared's parking pass) and this makes me feel like a very important person. AND on top of that I was in business causal, and might I say... looking good in my red high heels.

I felt good, and professional.

So I confidently walk to the stairs. Down to the pedway to a student health center. As I open the door to go across the pedway the elevator opens and at least 2 men walk out. As I'm walking I hear them behind me say something like... "the good ones are always walking away." Hmmm.... The must have been talking about something on the elevator.

So I walk. And as some know I like to walk fast. I get to the elevator and press the button to go down. I wait and wait. While I'm waiting, I decide to check my phone. Jared called and left a message. As I'm listening to it the elevator FINALLY comes. I get on. As the doors are closing a man turns the corner, and his son, and wife. So I put out my arm to stop the doors and they get on.

The man said something to me like "do you work here?" But I half way missed what he said and what my voicemail said. So I don't answer and inorder to avoid talking to strangers(moms say it is bad to talk to strangers and I hang on to that rule anytime I'm downtown) I try to look busy and so I listen to the message again.

Then this happened:

Old man: looks at me and says "Are you married?"

Me: very quickly and confidently "YES"

Old man: turns to the young man I hardly have noticed whom has a medical helmet thing and says, "I guess all the good ones are taken. Can't blame me for trying"

I smile.
Inside my head I'm thinking THANK YOU FOR JARED AND MY MARRIAGE, and CAN THIS 3 FLOOR ELEVATOR RIDE GET ANYMORE AWKWARD AND LOOOONNNNG?!? and WHO DOES THAT TO THEIR SON?!?!?! How embarassing! Or I HOPE it was for their son.... ewwww....

Finally, the doors open and I escape before they were even open all the way. I could be described as 'a blur'.

Rude? Maybe. Complement? Probably Creepy? YES

Can I really be blamed for walking fast???

And so it sits

Last Sunday Jared made a wonderful yummy rib dinner.

He fought the pouring rain and flood warnings to make his prized, well researched and coveted ribs. (And they really were fall off the bone good.)

Of COURSE he knows this. So to bring him back to reality whenever I hear him talk about his wonderful ribs I roll my eyes. I believe it helps his ego say within the same zip code. ;)

BUT the one issue I've had with this wonderful dinner (other than the ego) is the disposal. That night, as Jared was telling me Just How Good his ribs REALLY were (because eating one just doesn't do them justice), I cleaned up the mess.

Just as I was finishing off all the dishes I flipped the switch for the disposal and this awful clanking noise spilled out. Of course I hurried to turn it off and try to locate the source of the horrible noise.

Jared, taking a break from explaining his ribs awesomeness to me said, "Oh, some rib bone might have fallen in the disposal"

....

Oh??

I have stuck my hand down the disposal many a time for plastic spoons, popcorn seeds, measuring spoons, silverware (none of which has ever looked nor performed the same) And this is where my foot comes down.

I refuse to stick my hand down the disposal and pick out pieces of rib bone. Its just gross and not my fault. Not my prize ribs.

And this is were it sits... in the disposal. Still...

Our Little Garden

We decided that a little grow box was in order after we got our tax return this year.

It was a fun little project and Jared even let me touch and use his miter saw. Luckily nothing to bad happened. I was so scared to use it. There is just something about a saw spinning so fast that it can cut through just about anything... including fingers.

No fingers were lost, but I don't know that I will use that thing with out Jared's supervision.

After spending about a hour at Lowes we decided we would plant a couple regular tomato plants, a watermelon, cherry tomatoes, some carrots, pepper, stawberries AND The "Big Boy" tomato plant.
This baby scares me slightly. It is some kind of hybrid tomato plant. The tomatoes are supposed to grow to be 2 lbs. I expect about 1 tomato. I just hope its not going to have eyes and a mouth.

Like this one...

We will see.
