I'm so proud.

I made a blanket. A true blue blanket. I'm so proud of myself.

Since the flannel section of our local Jo anns is lacking in selection I went with a baby blanket because that is the only section that is full of fabrics.
This was the very first blanket I have made like this. Only rag quilts before.

It is definitely not a professional job, but it was the best I knew how to do.

The only boy in sight.

My next project will be a girls blanket. No kids yet or in the near future. Just having fun and being prepared. HA!

Footies with another Doctor?!

I had forgotten about this one. It happened a while ago but when Jared tells other people it really makes me blush. So embarassing. So if in the blog you will imagine Jared telling this story to you with the little quirks he does and me blushing next to him trying uselessly to defend myself, it will make for a really fun story.

DISCLAIMER: Jared and I are still happy together and with each other and loving life. When I told Jared what happened that night he could not stop laughing.
Here goes

So Jared had this fancy dinner thing to go to with some really renown ortho sports medicine guy that worked with some football team. (at this point you can tell I was not there for the lecture, but for the food :))
I believe this was in November and Jared was just getting back to normal from the brain tumor. He was invited and he went. I had to go right from work and change in the car. We got there and walked a couple blocks (in high heels, ew) and joined everyone. Everyone was mingling and then it was time to sit. We were planning on sitting with some friends from the program, BUT one of the directors (AKA Jared's boss) asked us to sit at his table with this famous doctor guy. It was fun talk about the upcoming election, surgeries, Jared's tumor, ect. Of course Jared and I did not drink, but everyone else did. (This is an important point because this means "I" was sober)

So talk proceeds and food comes (it wasnt all that great). The table was full of people by the way... and it was a circle table, meaning that there is less room for feet that bodies.
So I lay my feet and leg up against what I think is the leg of the table. Life goes on. But then I started to wonder... if that was the leg of the table then how did the famous dr. man fit into that spot next to me. And it came to me.... OH NO! and then I brushed it off.... no. no. Theres no way. But with more calculating I did realize Oh YES OH YES this was the leg of the dr. man I was touching. Not just touching for a minute or a brush but this was for more like a half hour. And as soon as he got up to give his presentation did my worst fears become confirmed. I waited to tell Jared until after the dinner. You just never know how they'll respond to something like that. He couldn't stop laughing. I still am mortified.
I haven't been to a dinner since... I can't be trusted around those dang doctors. But next time for sure I will have my legs on Jared the whole time.

Lots of Random Stuff all in one blog.

Where to even start. I have a camera full of pictures/videos I have been meaning to blog but i haven't. Why? I don't know. So I thought it to be good to post them with alittle blurp about it.

This picture is from a while ago. During our ice storm/snow storm last January. Jared and I could not figure out why our house always got so cold so fast, resulting in a cold house and a large heating bill. The winter storm cleared that question up very quickly.
Our Fireplace, let me reassure you it IS inside, and yes that IS snow.
This one is of Jared... obliviously, but the thing he is eating is strawberry shortcake. I know how much he love whip cream so.... is there actually any cake there? I don't know. But I think he is happy

Jared's feet, I hope you knew there were NOT mine, thank you. (otherwise I have some hairy legs.) But what is to be seen here is the diameter of the ankles. Compare. Notice that the left ankle is much larger than the right. This was due to Jared teasing the dog and running in a ditch to get him to fall, instead Jared went down. It was a nasty sprain, you can't see the bruise.

Our food storage :) There was a sale on cereal and we had coupons. 18 UNOPENED boxes. With a couple more we are working on.

Recently Charlie has become aquainted to our little (gross) neighborhood pond. At first Jared would have to throw him in, but now things are different and when walking to the pond Jared has to hold charlie's leash because he pulls so hard when he sees the water.

When Charlie gets off the leash he runs right in and will swim around.

But what he really loves to do is have a ball (that will float) thrown into the pond so he can leap out into the water and retrieve it. I guess that is the second part of labrador retriever.

But when we get home he is exhausted! And it is wonderful!!!! expect for the fact he smells like mucky pond.

He is super spoiled... The both of them.

Yesterday we had a freak storm that dropped HUGE hail. It was 90 yesterday and then... Hail? Jared grabbed one before all the rain melted it. They were really cool, but loud and scary. Golfball sized.

Mystery Mister

For the last four months Jared has been at the VA every other day or every 3 days on call. It goes something like this...

Monday- go to work at 5am
Tuesday- come home around noon
Wednesday- go to work at 5am
Thursday- come home around noon.

This is Called Q2 (every other day on call)

Monday- go to work at 5am
Tuesday come home around noon
Wednesday-go to work at 5am and come home around 5pm
Thursday- go to work at 5am
Friday- come home around noon

This is called Q3 (every 3 day on call)

We are happy when we get to see each other. We have both been making efforts to make this happen more often than not. But I'm starting to get used to not having Jared at home because of my experience last night. I woke up completely scared with my stomach in some pit when someone moved in the bed next to me. It took me a second to realized that this was not some stranger and that Jared was NOT on call that night and that it was HIM next to me.

What am I thinking!? A king bed all to myself EVERY night would be all to good to be true :)

The Derby Weeks

While I sit here in the hospital waiting for Jared. (it is a quiet night he says, until we get on the elevator to get some grub.) So while stuck here in the surgeons room with lots of computers and nothing better to do why not update the blog.

I guess I will start with the beginning of Derby with the beginning of events.

THUNDER OVER LOUISVILLE

So much fun! All day there were airshows, water shows, side shows, any kind of show and then there was a firework show. We only went to the fireworks part of it.
Jared had been up the whole night before and for some reason did not take a nap so was super tired... BUT being the sweetheart that he is he toughed it out and took me to "thunder". I think it was mostly for this deep fried pile of dough (can't remember the name right now). We parked at the closest we could... 2 miles away and had a lovely walk with mulets, whitetrash, and from every walk of life type of person. We got there and got the dung looking deep fried thing (which was good) and fought our way through the crowds to a good spot. FINALLY the fireworks. It was really really good. Supposedly it is the biggest firework show in the Nation. I believe it. Disneyland has nothing compared to this. It was so cool and it lasted for a long long time. SO COOL. I would urge people that can go to go. It was fun even walking back to our car... we are weird and like to play this game to try to get ahead of people in front of us like we are racing them to our car.... don't really know why. I guess because 2 miles can take some time to walk.

Some of the fireworks. I wish we could have gotten a more representative picture of the wonder.

A blurry picture of us... Jared took it :)

Then well there were lots of things .... Most I dont know about. There was some hot air balloon thing one sunday. Charlie was outside while I was working on a sharing time before church and he started FREAKING OUT. I looked outside to see these hot air balloons literally just higher than our house. Those things are huge.

They were right above our house and not very high. It was really amazing.

Then I know there was a parade last Thursday. It was a rainy windy just horrible day for a parade. Pegasus Parade. I know this because while driving home on the freeway from school I saw a massive spongebob trying to fly away with the wind. An interesting site.
And then Oaks and Derby. Now for all my western people... let me explain somethings I did not know before coming to Kentucky.

Horse races is a 'dress up' event. Not just derby any race any day. But Derby is the BIG day. Limmos, dresses, ties, the fancy hats. Horse races are HUGE in the east. I had never ever seen one til Jared got me to. And there are two main events in derby. The Derby race itself. and Oaks. Oaks is the day before derby where they race the girls.

Yesterday it was amazing. The horse smoked the others and I think made a new record.
Then today was derby. (other than it being miserable weather all day today it looks to have been all good) The same jockey won the derby today as yesterday at the oaks. He also is the same jockey that won derby last year on 'big brown'. One lucky guy.

Check out the race...

Churchhill downs

Sadly tickets for this event are bought out years in advance and run in the thousands of dollars, so for probably the rest of our lives TV will work just fine.

BUT one happy thing is I get paid time and a half to babysit on derby weekend. :)

I have to say it is sad it is all over. The hype for the upcoming derby will be gone and because it is talked about so much and I pass the track everyday at school I will miss the talk, but soon it will start up again. It really is kinda fun! Nothing like this in Arizona thats for sure.

The House is Complete

Or so we feel.

It all started.... on a fine saturday last week. Our neighborhood was having a big garage sale and I have lately been loving the garage sale scene. In a way it gives me a rush. You barter for a cheaper price even though you secretly think it is already a good deal. hee hee. It gives you a high or atleast it gives me a high. lol.

ANYWAYS the best Garage Sale ever! I got Jared to go with me. My garage sale buddy. First it started off with little things... chutes and ladders and then a usb port (because charlie chewed up the other) and THEN a lathe. (i hope i spelled it right) What is it you may ask... it does wood stuff... and it is expensive and we got it for cheap. Jared was a happy man. Giddy.
AND THEN we got to a house down the street. And there it was a wonderfully, nice, very gently used table. As cute as ever.
I have been on craigslist EVERY dayfor months looking for a nice cheap little table for our dinning room that was currently a sore spot in our house. more of junk room.
No this was not a craigslist. Yard sale! Listed at the Yard Sale for 450 we got it for 400. HAHA!

As Jared and I talked today at our cute little table we both agreed it was the biggest relief to have a table and not a junk room. Now the first thing you see is not junk
HAPPY!!!!

View from the Kitchen.
I'm in love with the chairs.
View from the front door... it needs a picture or something on the wall.

Easter Stuff

On Saturday Jared snuck away from being on call at work for long enough to glitterize some hollow eggs. I personally think that my egg trumped Jared's but you can't see all of the portrait in the picture.

On easter Jared and I went on a walk where we made a stop at the mucky pond in our neighborhood and Charlie got thrown in. Talk about one hyper pup after.

Then when we got home Jared took a nap and I set up a easter egg hunt. It was probably more for the age group of 4-7 but oh well.
It was "The Bunny Search". I put clues that lead to other clues all around the house and then outside eventually back to the house.

The Bunny!
What happens to the ears of the bunny when he doesn't understand its easter.

Easter was great overall. A new primary teacher for my crazy class taught the lesson. Stress free. Jared was post call so he got to be home half the day. Fun and games. Candy. Then a huge dinner that would have served 4-5. Talking to the family. And going to bed together - Something that is so rare and precious to me.

All in a good day.
